After last night’s game the Pirates are 21-20. Here’s a breakdown of how the team has done when X starts the game (in order of win percentage).

Brault 2 starts – team is 2-0
Lyles 7 – 6-1
Williams 9 – 6-3 (probably 7-2 if he doesn’t get hurt last night)
Taillon 7 – 3-4
Musgrove 8 – 3-5
Archer 6 – 1-5
Kingham 2 – 0-2

There’s a lot of variables involved in all of this, but it is what it is.

I saw Keller pitch for the Curve out of A+, and he had no excellent fastball and it was NOT “straight”. He also used an excellent breaking ball to compliment his FB and he commanded both. Nobody could touch him ! So last season began with the search for the elusive, got to have, third pitch. Much like Tyler Glasnow, this ridiculous idea has cost Keller, and it will continue to until he has somebody tell him to go out it and use his best two pitches until hitters figure him out. I’m absolutely done with this organization and their development of young pitchers.

He’s scheduled to pitch Sunday. Saturday would be on short rest so this makes no sense.
