What You May Have Missed on TPOP – Dec 2014

Steve and I would like to thank all of you that have found The Point of Pittsburgh during our first three weeks. As we flip the calendar to 2015, we will continue to attempt to provide an interesting daily article from Monday through Friday for you to read.

During the first weekend, we were fortunate to have our study on How Much a MLB Prospect Is Worth get picked up by the national site, Fangraphs. From there, it was cross-posted to numerous baseball forums representing: Tampa Bay Rays, New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays, Baltimore Orioles (I guess the AL East really liked it), Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, and the Houston Astros, in addition to the sabermetric site Tangotiger.

My favorite article of December was our proposed Light Rail North Concept article, as the idea is a real passion project of mine. We believe that if discussions aren’t started about moving transit forward, Pittsburgh will instead start to fall behind.

Steve’s favorite article was our interview with County Councilman Tom Baker, completed by contributor Dave Barkovich. He liked the concept of taking a public official out of his typical element and showing our readership a different side of him.

It’s possible you may have overlooked some of the articles that we posted, due to the hectic nature of the holidays or time off from work. To that end, please check out the Archives section located both in the header and footer of the site. Two articles in particular may have been lost in the wash: The Evolution of Andrew McCutchen shows how expectations have changed for him since he was drafted in 2005 and Policy Needs to Know Its Market gives you a sense of Steve’s ideas of urban planning. It’s also worth checking out for Steve’s exquisite graphics that accent the article.

Keep coming back in January 2015 and spread the word about The Point of Pittsburgh. You can follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook, too. Thanks!
